Cambridge Indivisible Demands Immediate Release of Pastor Daniel Fuentes Espinal Statement from Co-Chairs Michelle and Andy Fowle

Cambridge Indivisible condemns the unjust detention of Pastor Daniel Fuentes Espinal and calls for his immediate release.

CAMBRIDGE, MD — Cambridge Indivisible stands in solidarity with our neighbors in Easton and joins the urgent call for the immediate release of Pastor Daniel Fuentes Espinal, who was unjustly detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on July 21.

Pastor Espinal, a beloved minister and trusted community leader, has lived and served in Easton since 2015. He has no criminal record and has been a tireless advocate for immigrant families on the Eastern Shore, offering spiritual support, compassion, and dignity to those in need.

“This is what cruelty looks like,” said Michelle and Andy Fowle, Co-Chairs of Cambridge Indivisible. “Tearing a minister from his community and locking him away like a criminal—for the supposed crime of wanting to live and serve in peace—is not justice. This is a system designed to punish people for being immigrants, for being brown, for daring to belong.”

The arrest of Pastor Espinal is part of a broader pattern of inhumane immigration enforcement that criminalizes people simply for seeking safety, stability, and community. We denounce these actions and call on elected officials at every level to intervene and demand his release.

Cambridge Indivisible will be present in Easton on Friday, July 25, standing in full solidarity with the Talbot Democratic Forum and the Talbot Democratic Central Committee at a peaceful community rally to call for justice and an end to these cruel and unjust practices.

WHAT: Community Rally for Pastor Daniel Fuentes Espinal
